Principle of plate heat exchanger (PHE)

The basic components of a gasketed plate heat exchanger are as follows:

  • The bundle of plate consisting of cold-stamped, corrugated plates, the number and design of which depends on the heating programme.
  • The gaskets to ensure that the channels are isolated from one another and to control fluid flow.
  • The frame for assembling and tightening the plates


This type of heat exchanger is a counterflow heat exchanger and can be used as a water to water heat exchanger or with other more complex fluids

Brazed plate designs are also available
